The United States District Court in the District of Maine is now accepting new applications for admission to the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the District of Maine. Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel attorneys are highly qualified, private attorneys who are appointed by the federal court to represent indigent defendants in criminal cases. These lawyers play a vital role in protecting a defendant’s constitutional rights, including their right to counsel under the Sixth Amendment. Selected applicants will serve a two-year term and continuation on the panel beyond that term will require a renewal application.
To apply use the CJA New Applicants form, on the Court's website at www.med.uscourts.gov/how-apply-cja-panel.
