STATEMENT REGARDING POSSIBLE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
September 29, 2023
If the government shuts down at midnight on September 30, 2023, the Federal Judiciary will not shut down. The Judiciary, including the federal courts in the District of Maine, will remain open for at least ten days using its fee authority and no-year appropriations. During this period, the Court will continue to handle cases, conduct hearings and trials, and carry out its Constitutional duties.
