NATURALIZATION CEREMONY CELEBRATED
The United States District Court for the District of Maine held a naturalization ceremony on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Gignoux Courthouse, located in Portland, with the Honorable Stacey D. Neumann presiding.
With Senator Angus King as well as representatives from each office of Maine’s Congressional delegations in attendance, the oath of citizenship was administered to thirty new citizens from 17 different countries, including Armenia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Congo, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, India, Iraq, Russia, South Korea, Spain, and Vietnam.
As Judge Neumann explained to these new citizens and a full courtroom of attendees, “A naturalization ceremony is one of the purest expressions of what this country aspires to be. America is not defined by ancestry, heritage, or any single story. It is defined by an idea: that people from every corner of the earth can join together to build a more generous, creative, and hopeful future.”
A full copy of Judge Neumann’s remarks are posted on the Court’s website.
