The Multi-Court Voice Case Information System (McVCIS) provides callers with free access to limited court case information via a toll free telephone number. The public may call with a touchtone telephone 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to obtain the most requested information about filed cases in the Maine District Court.

Name Search
The following information applies to searches by name and augments the verbal description given to callers if they indicate they want help with name searches.
For selecting cases by personal or corporate names McVCIS prompts for filters to use when searching the court database. The filters are created using a sequence of key entries with each entry being a filter element. When searching by person both last and first name filters are entered. When searching by corporation only a corporation name filter is entered. There is a limit of 10 elements for each filter. The alphabetic character matches for filters are not case sensitive. Keys are used to enter the following filter elements:

If more than one possible name match is found, the caller will be asked to select a particular name from the search results. If more than one case is found for a name, the caller will be asked to select a particular case. If the search finds only one matching name and that name is associated with only one case, then that case is selected automatically. If data dictates more than 9 selections would be needed for a decision, then the caller is directed to use the PACER system for case information.
