U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker

 

        On behalf of the District of Maine, I am pleased to announce that Lance E. Walker took the oath of office as United States District Judge on October 18, 2018. Judge Walker is the Court’s nineteenth federal district judge in the District of Maine.

        Judge Walker has deep roots in Maine. He was born in Milo and grew up in Dover-Foxcroft. Judge Walker graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1990. He attended the University of Maine where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and the University of Maine School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2000. Judge Walker went on to serve as a law clerk from 2000 – 2001 to the Maine Superior Court. From 2001 – 2014, Judge Walker worked in the Portland law firm of Norman Hanson DeTroy, where his legal practice included trial and appellate work in the areas of complex litigation and insurance law. Judge Walker was appointed to the Maine District Court in 2014, and in 2015 he became a Justice on the Maine Superior Court.

        Judge Walker will serve the Court from Bangor filling the judicial vacancy created when the Honorable John A. Woodcock, Jr. took senior status in 2017. The Court will host an investiture ceremony for Judge Walker at a later date. Please join the Court in extending a very warm welcome to Judge Walker.
