	<strong>Investiture Ceremony for U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen</strong></p>
<p>
	The U.S. District Court for the District of Maine will convene a special session of court for the investiture of U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen today at 3 p.m. at the United States District Court located at 156 Federal Street in Portland.</p>
<p>
	Chief Circuit Judge Sandra Lynch, Circuit Judge Kermit Lipez, Chief Judge John Woodcock, and Judge D. Brock Hornby will be on the bench during the ceremony.&nbsp; Distinguished guests include Senator George J. Mitchell, Senator Olympia J. Snowe, Senator Susan M. Collins, Representative Michael H. Michaud and Representative Chellie M. Pingree.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Cameras and recording devices are allowed in the courtroom during the ceremony; however, live transmission (e.g. audio, video or blogging) will not be permitted.&nbsp; The ceremony will commence promptly at 3:00 p.m.&nbsp; Members of the media should arrive for set-up by 2:30 p.m.</p>

	A Citizenship Ceremony will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. before United States Magistrate Judge John H. Rich III of the United States District Court for the District of Maine, at the HUB Athletic Center Gymnasium on the campus of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, Maine.&nbsp; Fifty-five &nbsp;applicants will take the oath as new United States citizens.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Patriotic music will be provided by members of the SMCC Chorus and <em>Pihcintu</em>, Maine&rsquo;s Multicultural Children&rsquo;s Chorus. &nbsp;<em>Color of Community</em>, a multicultural group of young men and women who speak of love and forgiveness to replace bias and prejudice, will perform the invocation.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The South Portland Veterans of Foreign War Post 832 Honor Guard, Judge Rich and <em>Color of Community</em> will lead the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance<em>.</em></p>
<p>
	&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Other distinguished guests include SMCC President Ronald Cantor; South Portland Mayor Patti Smith; South Portland City Councilor and former Mayor Rosemarie De Angelis; Richard Bastow, a representative of the Maine Chapter of the Mayflower Society, who will present each new citizen with a copy of the Mayflower Compact; Virginia Cooney and Deborah Jolly-Schofield, representatives of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Elizabeth Wordsworth Chapter, who will present each new citizen with an American flag.&nbsp; The League of Women Voters of the Greater Portland Area will distribute voter registration cards at the conclusion of the ceremony.</p>
